Founded in 1998, Joshua House’s mission is to help youth find purpose through athletics, education, and faith. Based in Tyrone, Joshua House has over 20 years of experience in programming for area youth, investing in the lives of participants in many ways.

Joshua House has been a frequent recipient of a grant award through the CPCF’s competitive grants process. At some point over the past several years, CPCF has contributed to 4 of Joshua House’s programs.

Possibly their most impactful program is their After-School Program. From September-May, every Monday through Thursday from 3:15 – 5:30 pm, participating students in grades 5 – 12 congregate at the Joshua House Armory. Formerly the Tyrone Armory, Joshua House purchased the facility in 2016. During this time, students have both structured and unstructured time together. Daily snacks are provided, as well as a full meal one-day a week. During the weekly meal, adult leaders guide the students in conversation on any number of topics from healthy relationships to servant leadership.

Additionally, the CPCF has supported their F.I.T. Kids (Faith. In. Training.), Compassion Commission, and Cross-town Basketball League. F.I.T. Kids makes fitness fun and encourages students to positively fuel their bodies. Compassion Commission is an annual event in Baltimore where students from around the U.S. join for a week-long mission trip.

The Cross-town Basketball League gives 7-12 grade students a chance to play basketball, hang out with friends and receive direction in life. There are many area youth who enjoy the sport yet are unable to play for their respective high schools. During the 2019 season, the league had 4 teams that played full court, 5-on-5 basketball.
